Monday Ramblings

Happy Monday friends!

We had a full weekend of baseball, dance recital, sleepovers and helping friends move. By last night everyone was cranky and tired. The house is still quiet this morning and I am letting the kiddos catch up on their sleep.

Our little dancer
Their dance routine was "The Lonely Goatherd" from The Sound of Music. It was the cutest! Our little sweet pea was so into it!

Now that summer is in full swing, we have our summer list to check off, but I also have my own list of projects around the house that I want to complete.

One of those projects is our guest room. It has been a catch-all since we moved in and I'd like to make it a more inviting and functional space. First project...curtains!

On Saturday night I was up late sewing. I got one panel done. Hoping to finish the other one today.

Have you ever sewed curtains before? They are pretty easy to do (and quick too)! Design Sponge has a great tutorial.

Speaking of house stuff...Lysa TerKerust and The Nester are teaming up for this awesome blog series: Turning your House into a Home on a Thrift Store Budget.

Turning Your House into a Home on a Thrift Store Budget: Day 1

Perfect timing! I will definitely be checking in on that!

What are some projects you have planned for the summer?

Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Pie

Earlier this month, I shared my Frozen Nutella Pie over at 30 Days. This was a recipe inspired by my Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Pie, which I realized I had never posted. So, without further ado, I bring you the perfect summer dessert with one of my favorite combos...peanut butter, chocolate and banana!

Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Pie
adapted from Cooking Light

Ingredients
1/2 c. cream cheese, softened
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8oz) container whipped topping, thawed
2 medium bananas, sliced (about 1 1/2 c.)
1 (9") store-bought chocolate cookie crust
1/4 c. chocolate syrup for garnish

Directions
1. Using a mixer with a paddle attachment, mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
2. Add peanut butter and vanilla. Mix until well blended.
3. Add whipped topping. Mix until well blended.
4. Add sliced bananas to pie shell.
5. Pour peanut butter filling over bananas. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours.
6. Take out of freezer and remove cover. Drizzle chocolate syrup over pie.
7. Slice into 8 slices and enjoy!

So easy, cool and yummy!

Summer List 2014

Last week was the last week of the school year! We now have a first grader...

First and last day of Kindergarten

And a third grader!

First and last day of Second grade

Summer has officially begun! No more lunches to make and no alarm clocks. Just fun in the sun...yahoo!

Here is the summer list that we came up with for this year.

Every year we make a summer list to beat the boredom and have things to look forward to. Here are the lists from past years: 20102011, 2012, 2013.

It's going to be a great summer!

My baby daddy

Today is Father's Day!

My hubby is one great daddy! He makes time for our babies and makes them feel loved.

He reads to them

Throws the ball with them

Coaches their sports teams

Dances with them

Takes our girls on dates

And is just plain silly with them

But most of all, he loves the Lord and their mama

He is a man of integrity and I am honored to be his wife and mother to his children.

Happy Father's Day, my love!!

"For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just..."
Genesis 18:19

The birthday festivities continue...

I know, I know...ANOTHER birthday post. Birthdays are a big deal around here.

We celebrated The Boy's 9th birthday about a week ago with our families, then we celebrated his actual birthday, then we had a party for him and his friends on Friday.

It was a perfect day! We filled up some water balloons and headed to the park with some balloons and cake.

The kids played capture the flag with the water balloons and then the birthday boy got doused with a bucket of water (of course I didn't have my camera and the entire bucket of water balloons was gone in about 2 minutes, so I didn't get any pictures)! Bummer.

After some messing around, it was pizza time

After pizza, the kids played some more and then he opened presents

Cake time!

More playtime with the new toys. Daddy came to the rescue to get a flyer out of the tree. Everyone was concerned, as you can see.

Climbing trees

This was probably one of his most favorite parties. Kids being kids. Playing. Having fun. Sometimes keeping things simple is the best and most memorable.

InstaSunday

InstaFriday...on a Sunday. Here's a little recap of my phone photos from the last week.

I painted a stripe in our son's room last week. I have a few plans for some other fun projects for his room, but this was round one. Paint. Check.

This girl. She has such a personality. She cracks me up daily.

Last Monday was National Rocky Road Ice Cream day, so of course we had to participate. However there was a MAJOR meltdown over the ice cream because brother got more than sister and sister decided the world was against her. Oy! The drama.

More baseball.

We have been without a washer for 2 weeks! You should've seen the outfits that were being put together. Oh my! But in those 2 weeks, I only had to do 3 loads of essentials to get us through.

One load of towels that we took my parents' house.

One load of miscellaneous clothing that I took to a friends' house.

And one load of baseball uniforms and random things washed by hand in the tub.

Doing our laundry this way made me realize that we have way too much clothing. I'm pretty sure that our family of 5 could clothe 2 additional families with ease. There is going to be a major purge this summer.

Speaking of summer...it will be here in 4 days!!! And that means only 4 more lunches to make! YAY!! I'm excited for summer for many reasons, but not having to make lunches everyday is pretty high up on that list.

This guy turned NINE!! He growing up to be such a little man.

Sweet Pea's kindergarten class went to the Zoo. Our sweet baby girl got to tag along and navigated us around using her map. In her PJ's. With her bedhead.

She was so funny with that map. She was actually really using it. Map reading...it's a lost art.

Happy Sunday, friends!
